Meet Hussein, CHETI NGO's new Community Development Worker
We are extremely excited to announce that CHETI NGO have hired their first ever Community Development Worker, Hussein. This is a big step forward in allowing CHETI NGO and Made With Hope to extend our reach by partnering with three new Government Schools. Hussein will play a critical role in engaging the communities we work in, to ensure that CHETI NGO and Made With Hope are responsive to the needs and opinions of the school and wider community, and that the projects initiated in response are a true collaboration. Hussein’s first day at CHETI was last Monday, and we are very pleased to be working together.
Hussein works for CHETI NGO, but will be focused on delivering the projects that CHETI NGO and Made With Hope do together. Made With Hope are supporting this new role.

Why are you passionate about international development?
Development has no geographical boundary, every community, anywhere allocated on the earth needs development in different ways. And this is the reason the world leaders came together to formulate the global agenda called Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Working in my own country and travelling to Norway and Nepal has broadened my understanding of global issues. I have learned that, no matter where you are from but together, we can join forces in achieving the global agenda as everyone is affected in different ways.
I believe that to solve global issues, everyone should come together and work together rather than each country working on its own. Like an old phrase says ‘alone we can do so little, together we can do so much.’
Working in an international development makes me an active global citizen. Acting globally is being selfless and understanding that everyone deserves to live happier and healthier life. We all deserve to access quality water to drink, food to eat and shelter, no matter where you’re from, and we are supposed to support each other. This why I believe in international development and working together.
What made you decide to get involved with MWH?
I was very interested in Made With Hope’s development area of working towards quality education and health of children living in poverty. I am passionate about working in this area and being able to study community development have been one of my achievements so far. In order to reach my goal, I wanted to work in local communities to contribute to their well-being through health and education programs and I found that Made with Hope is working on the same area of development. I believe in supporting young people to reach their dreams. Through promoting quality education, we create a brighter future for the kids by supporting them breaking the cycle of poverty and this is what MWH believe in as well.
For the past 3 years I have been working with different youth-focused international and local organisations in Community Development Programs. I worked in project designing and implementation in areas of School Water Sanitation and Hygiene (SWASH), formative research, environmental, education, livelihoods and gender. During all this time I have worked to empower poor communities in rural areas of Tanzania and Nepal with a focus on young people. This experience has shaped my career. I now want to immerse myself into this work as a community development worker with MWH, working hard to help more children.
What do you enjoy most about working at MWH?
Supporting children through education and helping young girls on MHM matters. I feel so lucky to be working in such an amazing team of MWH. People are so supportive and I feel very confident in my work. People here are so open minded and are open to new ideas. Transparency is a key value at MWH. Everything is open here.
What are you most looking forward to at MWH in the future?
I am excited to support more children and reach out to more communities, bringing new projects to poor communities and empower poor children through education. I look forward to the expansion of MWH, involve more partners doing similar works as MWH’s. I view MWH as one of the strong platforms which provide chance to young girls and boys in achieving their dreams. I see an organisation that receive more volunteers and employ more people to join force in archiving the organisation’s plans.
We can't wait to work with Hussein, he is making an impact already and we know he is going to help us dramatically scale up our work
