We’re beginning to start building two new toilet blocks for girls, boys and student’s with additional needs. The community are already giving up their free time to help construct these toilets. We can’t wait for them to be complete for over 770 students to use, and thousands more in the future!

These students then attend school in no uniforms, barefoot, and with little or no stationery to make notes and do their school work in.

This means that girls can lose around 48 days of education each year. Menstruation should not be a barrier to accessing education!

The project kicked off in July 2021 and we are so happy that students are now able to use the new handwashing stations. Looking forward the school is hoping to see a reduction in illness and absence amongst students.
Read MoreIn Tanzania, less than 10% of schools have access to functioning hand washing facilities, and only 20% have water supply facilities. This means that over three quarters of Tanzania’s population of children are likely to be attending school with a lack of guidance on Covid-19 measures from the government, and do not have any access to adequate WASH facilities.
We are delighted to have started working with a new school last year! We first collaborated with Mzimuni Primary by implementing our Emergency Handwashing Project , consisting of new handwashing stations to help prevent the spread of coronavirus. We hope to continue to work with Mzimuni to make a difference for all its 629 pupils!
